Facilities of power supply network to connect small hydro power plants «Beloporozhskaya HPP‑1» with the capacity of 24.9 MW and «Beloporozhskaya HPP‑2» with the capacity of 24.9 MW to the networks of FGC UES JSC – first stage of construction (open distribution unit OSG‑220 kV «Beliy porog», 220 kV high voltage line).

220 kV open distribution system «Beliy porog» is designed to power the electric power system of the Republic of Karelia from the newly introduced small hydro power plants of NGPB LLC «Beloporozhskaya HPP‑1» and «Beloporozhskaya HPP‑2» on Kem river.

Power units of both small hydro power plants are paired in blocks (generator-transformer-line) to OSG‑220 kV.
OSG‑220 kV is connected with the small hydro power plant «Beloporozhskaya‑1» with the help of two 220 kV high voltage lines, and with the small hydro power plant «Beloporozhskaya‑2» with the help of two 220 kV cable lines.

For communication with the power system, Krivoporozhskaya HPP‑14 (TGK‑1 OJSC) and substation Kostomuksha PS‑52 (Karelskiy okatysh OJSC) are connected to the transit OSG‑220 kV using both 220 kV high voltage lines (L‑219 and L‑220) with the length of about 10 km creating the following lines:

  • «Beliy porog» – substation PS‑52 (2 circuits).
  • «Beliy porog» – Krivoporozhskaya HPP‑14 (2 circuits).

The investors to stock capital are the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Sinomec Company (China).
The developers are Russian companies «Nord Hydro‑Beliy porog» (NGBP LLC) and «Karelstroymekhanizatsiya».

It was the first project in Russia financed by the New BRICS Development Bank together with the Eurasian Development Bank and the International Investment Bank. The total investment amount was 1.8 bln rubles.
